Whether you\u2019re an adult or teen, this treatment offers a variety of benefits that make it stand out from other orthodontic solutions. However, it\u2019s important to have a realistic expectation of the process to make sure it\u2019s doable for you! Read on to learn four things about Invisalign clear aligners every patient should know before moving forward with the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">You Wear Your Aligners for 22 Hours a Day<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Even though your clear aligners are removable, it\u2019s important to wear your trays for between 20 and 22 hours a day. The longer you can wear them for, the better! Because they apply a gentle and strategic amount of pressure onto your teeth to move them, they must continually be worn in order to achieve the results you want. If you don\u2019t, you may find that your teeth aren\u2019t moving as anticipated, which could set your entire process back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to hit your 22-hour wear time, the only time you will take your trays out are whenever you eat or drink anything besides water, and whenever you brush and floss your teeth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">You\u2019ll Need to Visit Your Dentist Every 6 to 8 Weeks<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Just like with traditional braces, it will be important to visit your dentist in DuPont every six to eight weeks during your Invisalign treatment. The good news is that these appointments will be very short (only about 15 minutes) and can be completed during your lunch break! Your dentist will examine your teeth to make sure your aligners are shifting your teeth as anticipated. Then, they will give you the next sets of trays in your treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Attachments Might Be Necessary<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If your aligners aren\u2019t tracking, your dentist may tell you that you need attachments. These are small, tooth-colored bumps that are added to your teeth to act as pressure points for the trays to focus their adjustment power on. Don\u2019t worry if you need attachments, though! They\u2019re a common addition for patients and once you get used to them, you\u2019ll barely notice they\u2019re there!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">You\u2019ll Experience Some Slight Discomfort<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When you switch to a new set of aligners, you\u2019ll feel some discomfort as you get used to the slight difference in pressure. This pain is normal for the first couple of days and can usually be alleviated with over-the-counter medication like acetaminophen.
